With over 40 years of experience, Pat Slattery is one of the most experienced professionals in the auction and valuation industry in Australia. Pat began his career in the Valuer General’s Department before joining a country stock and station agent which ingrained in him the importance of a strong work ethic and exceptional customer service. Pat opened Slattery Auctions in 2000 in Newcastle with the ambition of building it up to be the premier auction house and valuations practice in New South Wales. 11 years later Pat has surpassed that goal with Slattery Auctions becoming a major auction house in New South Wales and Victoria selling Trucks, Machinery, Cars and General items. Some of Slattery Auctions' clients include, amongst numerous others, Westpac, Macquarie Bank, Department of Defence, BIS Industries (formerly Brambles) as well as many local government bodies and energy companies such as Ausgrid (formerly EnergyAustralia) and Essential Energy (Formerly Country Energy). Paddy is the General Manager of Slattery Auctions in New South Wales where he is responsible for all in-house and on-site auctions including all truck and machinery, aviation, marine and plant and equipment auctions. Paddy’s meticulous attention to detail, problem solving capacity and strong work ethic ensures Slattery’s clients are given the best customer service leading up to and after any auction. Paddy also has his commercial helicopter pilot’s licence which allows him to fly the auction and valuation teams to regional areas when required. A certified aircraft appraiser with the National Aircraft Appraisers Association (NAAA), Paddy brings a unique skill set to our aircraft valuations practice and strengthens Slattery’s reputation and credibility as a premier aviation valuation and auction house.
Tim is one of the newest members of the Slattery Auctions team. Tim brings a varied background with him having joined us after spending a number of years working as a solicitor for the law firm Freehills in their Sydney equity capital markets, finance and energy and resources teams. Tim has previously worked, among other roles, for Time Warner in Hong Kong, Meat and Livestock Australia in Beijing and in the Commonwealth Parliament as an adviser to a Senator. Tim is also very involved at the board level for a large international not-for-profit student exchange organisation. In addition to establishing new relationships and strengthening existing client relationships, Tim is responsible for managing Slattery Auctions’ compliance and legal affairs. This has seen the introduction of new compliance and reporting regimes to ensure Slattery Auctions’ clients are always covered for their Corporations Act requirements when using Slattery Auctions.
Todd’s role at Slattery Auctions is to manage all motor vehicles and liaise with finance companies. Todd started with Slattery Auctions in 2000 and joined the team having come from a construction and mechanical background. This experience has helped him become an integral part of Slattery Auctions in the important role of Car Manager. Todd prides himself on attention to detail and is continuing to aid management in streamlining systems involved with car auctions. He has been heavily involved in ensuring the success of Slattery Auctions “Buy Now” Motor Vehicle facility. Todd has become an accurate valuer of cars and has a good feel for the current market in an ever-changing environment.
Matt’s current role is Manager of our Valuations Department. His understanding of the marketplace and expert knowledge is well respected by receivers, managers and leading financial institutions throughout Australasia and the South Pacific region. Matt has established a reputation as an in-demand expert for delivering valuations to major accounting firms as well as the financial sector with banks seeking him to manage their valuations. With a particular specialty in heavy machinery, including earthmoving, open-cut and underground mining and agricultural plant, Matt is recognised nationally as an industry leader in his field.
With 19 years experience working for Esanda Finance in their asset management department and another 10 years working for Slattery Auctions, Tim brings a comprehensive practical understanding of asset finance and the legal complications associated with receivership, administration and liquidation. This unique insight into the spectrum of complications surrounding a distressed asset benefits Slattery’s clients as Tim is able to offer commercially astute advice that gives Slattery’s clients the ability to make confident decisions. In addition to providing automotive, road transport and marine valuations, Tim has developed a specialisation in the aviation industry and has developed a strong reputation for having a thorough understanding of the values of aircraft and the values of their ancillary parts.
Peter is a valuable asset to the valuation team with extensive experience in the valuations of boats and defence equipment. Peter joined Slattery Auctions Australia in 2003 from the Department of Defence where for the last 12 years of his 38 year career with them he served as Director, Australian Defence Force Disposals and Marketing Agency. This role provided Peter with substantial exposure to marketing, auctions and valuation activities for a unique range of equipment. His qualifications include invaluable experience in Australian Defence Force assets, technical expertise and an unmatched knowledge of government requirements and protocols for the sale of public assets.
Bob started with Slattery Auctions in October 2009 and brings with him over 40 years experience within the auctions and valuations industry. He specialises in rural, livestock, grain and fodder, plant/machinery and all real estate property valuations. Bob is an Associate of the Australian Property Institute (AAPI), a certified practising valuer and an accredited auctioneer, real estate agent, business agent and stock and station agent. Bob assists the Slattery Auctions team in valuations and building valuable relationships with clients in the rural, livestock and property sectors.
Dave is a new addition to the Slattery Auctions team. His role within the company is to primarily look after aircraft valuations and auctions as well as specialise in boat valuations. He is also our private pilot when aircraft transfers are required.
Sean’s primary role within Slattery IT is to keep our company’s systems running smoothly and up to date with the latest technology. Sean graduated from the University of Newcastle with a 100% pass rate in Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in financial and management accounting. As IT manager, one of Sean’s key roles is to facilitate the ongoing development of the vendor user interface web based system that allows vendors to log directly into our system and interact with us at any time and place. This system has enhanced productivity for both the vendors and auction staff and is now an integral part of the administrative framework.
After taking time out for maternity leave, Michelle has come back to us on a part time basis where she assists the Financial Controller in book keeping, accounts management and general accounts administration. Michelle’s friendly and bright personality brings vitality to our accounts department.
Odile co-ordinates all bookings, reports, queries and payments for the valuations department. Having over 10 years experience in administration with previous experience in the steel and IT industries, Odile brings experience that allows the valuations process to run smoothly and efficiently.
Stephanie has been with Slattery Auctions for 7 years and is a fundamental part of the administration team. Stephanie has a background in retail, hospitality and experience at a previous auction house so understands what good customer service is all about. As a member of the Rural Fire Service, Stephanie knows the benefits a great working team can deliver and believes this is what sets Slattery’s apart.
Stephanie has made a big impact to the Slattery’s team since joining the company in 2009. Utilising her Diploma of Human Resource Management and Certificate IV in Business, Stephanie has taken charge of marketing for Slattery Auctions and has brought all advertising, brochures and marketing design back in-house. Stephanie has undertaken a number of design courses in order to fully maximise the potential of our advertising campaigns and is currently completing her MBA to broaden her expertise further.
Soleil is the most recent addition to Slattery Auctions. She started with the company in October of 2011 dealing with the online perfume sales before making her way into the receptionist seat. Soleil brings with her a background in sales and service within the Telecommunications industry.
'Hutcho' has had an association with Pat Slattery for over 30 years and has been a cornerstone of Slattery Auctions since it opened in 2000. Peter is charged with the smooth operations of our yards and has specialist knowledge on all trucks and heavy machinery including earthmoving equipment. If there is anything that needs starting or getting moved then “Hutcho” is your man. He is a very loyal and valued employee.
Glendon joined the team in July 2010 after previously working in rural services and in a wholesale nursery. Glendon is responsible for managing all of Slattery’s general items and equipment and brings a friendly and personable touch to our customer service in this area. Glendon is currently undertaking study to expand on his capacity to transport road transport and industrial equipment.
Sean is currently undertaking a combined Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Commerce majoring in property valuations and property development. Sean currently assists Todd Power in managing the motor vehicle operations and has a keen eye and attention to detail in automotive valuations. Sean is one to watch in the future.
James joined Slattery’s in 2004 and is currently the Director of Slattery Auctions Victoria. Prior to this, James spent some time in the construction industry and completed a 12 month secondment to Taylor Woodings, a national insolvency firm, where he worked on a range of formal appointments from receiverships and liquidations to deeds of company arrangements and bankrupt estates. As Director, James co-ordinates the Victorian truck, machinery and motor vehicle auctions. Liaising with vendors to arrange goods to be collected and delivered to the yard and preparing them for auction. He also manages the marketing, selling and funds collection.
Michael is the General Manager at Slattery Auctions Victoria. He has been in the industry since about 1980 and worked as a store man for auction company, Peter Purdy Auctions. In 1987 he became an auctioneer and valuer and has built up valuable industry knowledge over the years while carrying out a vast array of auction sales and valuations for industry and insolvency clients. Michael was working for Taylor’s Auctioneers and Valuers when it was acquired by Slattery Auctions.
Rob has been with Slattery Auctions since 2008. He is a Valuer within the organisation with a reputation in providing accurate valuations and great customer service. Rob brings with him a specialist background in property however is highly experienced in Transport and Plant Valuations. He prides himself on building strong relationships with clients and ensuring expectations are always exceeded.
Ben’s role within Slattery Auctions is to manage the Auction rooms and ensure that all operations are run smoothly and efficiently. He is also a Cadet Auctioneer. He is currently a member of the Auctioneers and Valuers Association of Australia and the Insolvency Practitioners Association. Ben brings with him a strong background in Agriculture which is immensely valuable as we are able to provide our clients with accurate and useful information on equipment.
